On February 16th, we’re doing a free tele-seminar to help beginners make the traditional foods switch. You can sign up here.
Here are three quick and easy things you can do right now to increase your nutrition if you are new to traditional foods.
- Add Concentrace or another trace mineral supplement to every dish you make.
- Switch to Real Salt or Celtic Sea Salt instead of using table salt.
- Make your own chicken stock and hide it in as many foods as you can manage. There are lots of ideas on how to hide stock and increase your stock intake here from our Bone Broth Marathon.
Just three simple changes can make a lot of difference in your trace mineral stores. There are 92 trace minerals currently known to science and another 22 are hypothesized. Most produce grown today is deficient in trace minerals because our soils are deficient in them due to modern farming practices. Modern farming mainly considers the balance of only three minerals in the treatment of soil- potassium, nitrogen and phosphorus.
As your body is better nourished, it will be better able to handle bigger changes like reducing or eliminating sugars. A lack of trace minerals can make a big difference in your cravings. Some people find a few changes such as this can greatly reduce or eliminate their cravings for sugars and processed products and make changing over to an unprocessed diet easier. When you don’t crave processed carbs, it’s easier to eat your veggies and be open to trying new foods. But even if it doesn’t, having more trace minerals in your diet is still a blessing as most people don’t consume nearly enough.
