On Monday, I recommended mixing the digestive clay into a slurry and downing it.  With small kids, that might be an issue.  It’s flavorless but it is gritty.  So I wanted to tell you another clever way to get clay into your family.

Mix 1 Tbs of the clay with one cup of your sea salt and put that into your salt shaker.  Use that in your cooking and to salt your foods at the table.

It won’t get as much clay into your kids as you might like, but it’s definitely a start.  If your kids need more, drop it into their morning smoothie with the blender running so it doesn’t clump.  Or stir it into applesauce.  Or mix it with their liquid calcium supplement.  I’ve used all with good success with my kids.

Thanks for the great idea! I was just looking into getting some and wondering how to get it into my kids. Is there a brand you prefer?

I’ve been experimenting with clay and my kids. They are okay with it mixed into a smoothie at first but they tend not to drink them very fast and after an hour or so the smoothie with clay turns into a big solid clump.

My older one will drink it if I offer her something sweet as a “chaser”

What I do is pour out their regular cup of smoothie, leaving enough for just a couple of swallows in the bottom of the blender and then blend in the clay. I put the little bit of smoothie in a little metal cup I use for that purpose. They drink the sip with the clay first, then I hand them their full cup and off they go. I’d have to do that before with other supplements I mixed into a smoothie, like digestive enzymes, to keep it from being a problem.

One other thought- it’s hardening because you’re using a swelling clay. If you use a clay that doesn’t swell, it won’t do that.

I have been giving ds some the past few days. He was okay to drink it once I added the flavored liquid stevia drops.

That’s a good idea. I’ll have to try that with my kids and see if they like it that way, too.

Thanks! It’s Earth’s Living Clay that were using right now. I’m not sure if that’s a swelling clay or not, this is the first time I’ve bought it. I will try your idea of a small drink with the clay first next time.
